Membership Requirements

Member Obligations

Membership of FIRG is limited to financial services organisations that typically have a core business in at least one of the following:

  • Investment Banking
  • Retail Banking
  • Funds Management
  • Institutional Finance
  • Superannuation
  • Wealth Creation / Management

New and existing members must be prepared to support the goals and objectives of FIRG. In particular members must be willing to:

Comply with the FIRG Code of Conduct:

  • Members must fully comply with the operating principles of FIRG, as set out in the Code of Conduct at all times

  • Without limiting the obligation of members to comply with the Code of Conduct generally, the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of the salary survey data is paramount

  • Survey data must be used only for appropriate purposes E.G. as a tool for determining the organisation's remuneration  policies and practices. FIRG members must not disclose survey data in any form to representatives of any other organisations.
  • Members must remain financial members at all times

Participate fully in the FIRG activities:

  • Members are expected to contribute to round table discussions on key policy issues. The senior Human Resources executive for the organisation is expected to attend the Conference and share information within the bounds of commerciality

  • FIRG provides access to very high quality networking focused on the Finance Industry. Members should be prepared to share information in order to benefit from the opportunity. Members are encouraged to pursue networking opportunities with those who are listed on the membership listing.

Contribute timely, accurate and comprehensive data to the salary survey:

  • The base requirement is that members match and contribute data for at least 20 positions excluding Support Services and Industry Leaders job families. At least 40 positions should be matched across all job families

  • All members are expected to contribute a significant proportion of possible matches across all available job families and levels of the organisation to ensure that the data is genuinely representative of the industry. Meeting the base requirements only may not satisfy this requirement

  • Some specialised organisations may not be able to meet the base requirement. The Committee may grant membership to such organisations provided a very high proportion of positions in the organisation are matched, the organisation commits to participate fully in the activities of FIRG, and contribution of data by the organisation will add value to the survey.
