History

The Financial Institutions Remuneration Group Inc (FIRG) is an incorporated not-for-profit membership based organisation, primarily focused on the development and production of a high quality salary survey for the Australian finance industry.

FIRG provides a forum for the open exchange of otherwise confidential information regarding remuneration and employment practices within a community of members who dominate the finance industry within Australia.

FIRG's goal involves the support of human resource professionals whose job it is to attract, develop and retain quality management and staff in support of business operations within our industry.

FIRG was established in 1986 at the time of de-regulation of the banking industry. Our initial conference held in Sydney in October 1986 involved 13 member companies who participated in a job matching exercise covering 70 bench mark jobs. FIRG now has over 100 member companies who provide data for jobs matching some 1,000 positions reflected in over 120,000 lines of data, including over 1,400 records for the Industry Leaders survey.
